George-Etienne Cartier

Greetings my name is, George-Etienne Cartier I am one of
the fathers of confederation. I was born in Saint-Antoine,
Lower Canada, on September 6, 1814. I studied at St Sulpice
collage for four years. Later in 1837 the rebels forced me to
go flee to the United States. There I settled for a time in
Burlington, Vt. Later on in 1838 I returned to Montreal, as the
rebellions settled down to a legal career. Later on I persued a
career as a lawyer and became remarkably succesful. I became
the leading French-speaking corporation lawyer in Montreal. I
also became fond of song writing and wrote lyrics for "O
Canada" that almost became our national anthem. In 1848 I
decided to join politics and was elected a member for
Vercheres Country, which I was in until 1861.
Sir John A Macdonald and I were the prime ministers jointly.
Unfourtunatly our time as prime ministers ended in 1862.
But, we were still part of many acts and events clubs also.
Queen Victoria's letter is going to be read by the house
of commons which announces wether or not the union will
be approved.
I was so happy to hear that the act of union was
approved. "Oh Queen Victoria god bless her heart". You see the
union gave equal representation to both Canada and the United
States, this was called "rep by pop" or otherwise known as
representation by population.

How could anyone have known it would end up like this?
Well the situation for "rep by pop" became intlerable and led
to the great coaliton in 1864. In the later
years I negotiated the creation of Manitoba, as well as letting
British Columbia into the confederation.I travelled to the Charlottetown
conference that was to begin on September 1st 1864. There
myself along with with dearfriend John A Macdonald asked the
men who was still in favor for the union.The evening was delightful
we had a wonderful banquet serving oyster and champagne lunch
along the seaside. Too bad the days had gone by so soon, there
was a Grand ball at the legislative building which ended our
conference on September 9th 1864. But, for us delegates the
meeting continued in Halifax, Saint John and Fedricton. The
delegates were special people who were a part of the house
of delegates in Maryland,Virginia, which I myself was a part of.
In 1872 I introduced the
bill of the construction of the Canadian Pacific railway in the house
of commons. I was a part of the Liberal. There were many clubs I had
joined in including thr "Fils de la leberte", meaning the
sons of liberty. My belifs were strong as my time as a prime
minister there was one thing I truly believed in and that was
for all races ans religions to be accepted after, when passed away
I want Montreal to become a multicultural city and may my
wife and daughters enjoy that as well, and live by that dream.In
1873 I travelled to London,Ontario in hope for finding a cure
for kidney cancer which I have been suffering from for many
years. unfortunatly they could not help me.
Today I told my two lovely daughters Maria and Margrite,
if I were ever to die that I would like to be buried in France

What was the weirdest teacher you ever had?

My weirdest teacher litterally had an alter ego. she was so nice when other adults were around. but then she turned evil when they left. she was also totally clueless and we could get away with ANYTHING! she hated me because someone spread a rumor that i had a crush on my guy friend and she was in love with him. she was 43 he was 13 but boy oh boy did she love those "big brown eyes". omg it was hilarious. she gave me lunch detention once because i used lined paper insted of graph paper. i got sent in the hall 17 times that year and never by any other teacher. she forced me to give my guy friend that she loved all my candy on valentine's day.(i didnt do it tho) she also gave us 60 math problems every single nite. (this was 7th grade by the way)omg theres tons of other stories that r much much worse but theyre all too long

Salome, by Duffy?...?

I've got an English assessment this Wednesday and have to write about Salome. We had one lesson to annotate the poem as a class and got some pretty good ideas. If you've read the poem before you know that there are themes of revenge and sex. Here is a copy of the poem:

Salome

I'd done it before
(and doubtless I'll do it again,
sooner or later)
woke up with a head on the pillow beside me -whose? -
what did it matter?
Good- looking, of course, dark hair, rather matted;
the reddish beard several shades lighter;
with very deep lines around the eyes,
from pain, I'd guess, maybe laughter;
and a beautiful crimson mouth that obviously knew
how to flatter...
which I kissed...
Colder than pewter.
Strange. What was his name? Peter?

Simon? Andrew? John? J knew I'd feel better
for tea, dry toast, no butter,
so rang for the maid.
And, indeed, her innocent clatter
of cups and plates,
her clearing of clutter,
her regional patter,
were just what needed -
hungover and wrecked as J was from a night on the batter.

Never again!
I needed to clean up my act,
get fitter,
cut out the booze and the fags and the sex.
Yes. And as for the latter,
it was time to turf out the blighter,

.....In particular, does anyone have any ideas about the meaning in the last stanza, i thought that maybe his 'head' was actually a double meaning and gave the image of his penis on a platter, showing that Duffy is demasculating him...........................please tell me if this is wrong and i just have a dirty mind!

ok so i really like this guy who is a musical prodigy(just extra info ha.ha.) i have really liked him for 2 years hes a grade ahead of me and 1 year older. we talk often i guess. my friend and i call him all the time and he s always happy to talk to us. my friend told him that i liked him and he said oh! thats intersting cause.... nevermind and he also happily agreed to accompany me on piano for my violin solo at a contest. he told me to get the music to him and that we need to rehearse together. i would consider us friends. just so you know...what do you think? what is ur opinion on the situation does he like me at all???????????
